Damian is the best and most prepared of fitness professionals. His tough regimens often brought back flashes of USMC boot camp, but his constant
encouragement challenged me to lose the weight (200+ down to 185) I needed to lose. But, having done the work he set out for me, he also made me look forward to my monthly measurements as I built muscle and dropped off fat. I have often encouraged friends to get real and call him to get serious about increasing strength and weight loss. My lone suggestion is not to bet Damian on the outcome of any Superbowl. Unfortunately for me -- he won / I lost. Result: the 200 lb push sled was readied for 4 trips up and back. -Jim B.
Back in the summer of 2009, I participated in an internship with Specialized Fitness. Going into the internship I weighed 205 lbs, was having lower back
problems and did not have very good core strength. In the course of 2.5 months I lost 30 lbs, gained more muscle, and most importantly had the knowledge to know how to do the right exercises. The crazy thing is that everyone who was training with Specialized fitness got similar knowledge of how to transform their body based on their goals.The trainers at specialized fitness made sure they pushed people to give everything they got but yet made sure they were doing proper techniques. I had worked out off and on prior to this internship, gained much school knowledge, but still learned more about exercise and nutrition in 2.5 months then in 4 years of school. The great thing about specialized fitness is that they don't have a large crowded gym that you have to wait to use certain gym equipment or workout areas. This gym is made to get results. If you want to lose weight, gain muscle, learn more about nutrition and just overall have a good time, then I recommend specialized fitness. -Michael T. age 21
I've personally known Damian Cortez for over a decade, but did not start officially training with him and the Specialized Fitness team until three years
ago. I've worked out with various trainers before, but what makes Specialized Fitness the best is what it is "specialized." You aren't put through a training program that is generic and boring that your friend did before you and you aren't just another client in an assembly line of people looking to get in shape. From the first meeting to daily sessions, I get a fantastic workout that is customized for my body type and aimed at achieving my personal
fitness goals while being encouraged and supported by Damian or any of his team. I always leave feeling accomplished, stronger both physically and
mentally, and it doesn't hurt that I lose pounds along the way :) In fact I've lost 25 pounds and kept it off! I hate working out in general like most women, but at Specialized Fitness it's not working out its about working towards a better me. At 67, I had never exercise with any regularity until I hired Damian for my personal trainer and September I will be 71. I started with a weight of
159-160 and now weigh 135. During this time I have had a heart pace-maker, Breast Lumpectomy and radiation and about 2 months later I had a stroke. Each time I felt I return much sooner due to my being in shape. My goals are to tighten my triceps, improve posture and strengthen core which I feel very confident in reaching them with Damian's help. -Gail W.

I have always considered myself to be an athletic person. I grew up playing sports and have always enjoyed the outdoors. To be quite honest, I never
believed in the idea of working out with a Personal Trainer. My attitude had always been that I knew how to work out and it was just a matter of making the effort. Last summer my husband proposed and we set a date to be married 3 months later. Working full time and planning a wedding for around 150 guests left me with a limited amount of time to work out. I started training with Damian about 6 weeks before the wedding. My main goals were to gain strength, muscle and to make my arms look great. I defiantly achieved my goals and so much more. Damian designed our sessions specifically for me with my goals in mind. The sessions were challenging but fun and I felt extremely confident on my big day! A long time ago, in a land far far away, I was an athlete. Then life hit, and kids, and travel, etc. Over the years I had gotten far heavier than I would ever desire. With a low carb diet and an exercise routine of my own, I was able to get back to "normal" weight. I met Damian and we talked about fitness, diet, etcetera. I got to the point where "normal" weight was insufficient for my desires. I do not work out with Damian, but I do follow his
suggestions. With some very simple changes to diet and exercise, I no longer measure weight, I measure BMI. It is a fun challenge. When I first talked about it with Damian, I was at 17%. I am down to 9.1% now and I am not killing myself doing it. I just changed a few simple things. This guy knows what he is doing. He is not a typical "meathead" trainer. He understands the physiological and spiritual matters behind fitness, weight loss, and healing. Give Specialized Fitness an opportunity and be consistent in your application of their teaching. Ouch, ouch, ouch..... Always a challenge at Specialized Fitness. A great staff of trainers who care about their clients. Not the same old routine every
time. Damian had me try out the 65ft ropes on Friday and my arms were on fire. They have two great facilities convenient for in town or out. Rachel has been my trainer for two beauty pageants and I've won each time! I always feel like I'm walking into a warm environment when I walk into the gym. The people are friendly and sometimes you see some pretty famous faces of San Antonio! Couldn't ask for a better personal training gym!! -Jenny C.

I started with Rachel Trub in March 2012 and by July 2012 I had already lost 2 body fat percentages and noticed a big change in my body. I joined Specialized Fitness after being diagnosed with Diabetes in Jan. of this year. I was pretty concerned as the medication I was on required insulin
injections four times a day, potentially for the rest of my life. After retiring from the Army, I was pretty caught up in very limited, if any
physical activity for about 16 years, so deciding to start a workout program was pretty intimidating! I was determined to be here for my
kids and grandchildren, so I began working out with Joe Vega twice a week. After two months of diet and fitness training, I was able to stop the
Insulin injections at meal time, and my blood work was within normal limits. The staff at Specialized Fitness saved my life. PERIOD.
I am now continuing to workout to achieve a better quality of life, and it is never easy, but Joe and the staff are always there to guide

When you hear words like exercise and fitness, for some it evokes a smile and a metaphoric high, the thought of endorphins rushing to the brain and
sweating up a clean shirt sounds like a good time.....Not me, I'm the anti-fitness type, I've never considered myself an obese person, but after I
turned thirty, something changed. I started having chronic back aches, getting winded over simple task like taking out the trash. I blamed
everything but myself for my obese condition. Of course I knew I added a few pounds, at 33 I weighed 215 pounds, and only being 5'8" it was
obvious, I was obese! I took action, started dieting (counting calories) and exercising along with personal training. Joseph Vega has been my trainer for more than a year now, he has took the time to teach me proper and safe ways to maximize my workouts. Always a bright, uplifting personality who demands 100% from all his clients. Joseph Vega pushes you to a higher level, sure to reach your fullest potential of fitness. Whether in a group or one on one he gets the job done. Always giving you a new and creative workout that you can feel good about when you are finished. I am 34 now and weigh 180 pounds with at least ten pounds of added muscle, I've gone down five pant sizes and even completed a 5&6k run.
